About the role
About this role
An early-career Executive Assistant (Social Media Content) supporting the CEO of a venture-backed advanced energy and defense technology company in San Leandro, CA. You will work alongside the CEO at events and on the road as he builds the business. We are looking for someone energetic and presentable with a story to tell: a former athlete, a competitor, or a campus leader who wants to learn fast, work hard, and grow into larger roles over several years.
What will you be doing?
- Travel with the CEO roughly 20-50% of the time, including internationally, to high-profile finance, defense and technology events.
- Handle on-the-ground support: ground transport, meals, timing, and keeping the day running smoothly.
- Take detailed notes by hand in technical and defense meetings (no AI note-taking tools, due to ITAR).
- Take photos and create content at events so the company's social channels stay active.
- Grow into a larger role over 2-3 years, such as chief of staff, social media, business operations or recruiting.
Key requirements
- 0-4 years of experience; new graduates welcome.
- A standout record of achievement, such as competitive athletics, Olympiad-level academics, a black belt, chess or classical music, or campus leadership. Experience as an EA, coordinator or admin at a fast-paced hardware or tech startup is a plus.
- Strong grasp of social media, a camera-ready presence, and strong written and verbal communication.
- Willing to travel 20-50%, including internationally, and to work on-site five days a week in San Leandro, CA. Relocation support is available.
- Follows Silicon Valley and defense tech, stays politically neutral, and focuses on objectives. Low ego, puts others first, detail-oriented.
- US citizen or Green Card holder. This is an ITAR-regulated environment and no visa sponsorship of any kind is available.
About the company
A venture-backed advanced energy and defense technology company developing next-generation clean energy hardware in its own facilities. Some of the work is ITAR-regulated and carried out in partnership with US government stakeholders. The company is early-stage and growing quickly, with an intense, high-ownership culture modelled on leading hardware companies.
What the team values
- Obsess about the details: do it right the first time.
- Care: pick up the trash and do the things no one asks you to do.
- Act with urgency: every hour matters.
- Own the outcome: if something isn't working, it's your problem until it's fixed.
- Assume good intent: disagree openly, then commit fully once a decision is made.
The team cares more about people than titles, and looks for interesting, energetic people with original thinking and impressive accomplishments outside of work. Many people join in an early-career role and grow into larger ones.
Compensation and benefits
$135K - $210K base salary, plus competitive equity and relocation support.
Interview process
- Culture screen with Recruiting & Operations (30 minutes)
- Executive 1:1 interviews with the Chief Strategy Officer and the Head of Ops
- On-site final interview with the CEO
