Cost Accountant

This role is responsible for managing manufacturing cost accounting, inventory controls, financial reporting, and cost analysis while partnering with operations to improve profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard costs, job costs, bills of materials (BOMs), labor rates, and manufacturing overhead.
• Investigate material, labor, freight, and overhead cost variances and recommend improvements.
• Reconcile inventory, work-in-process (WIP), and manufacturing-related general ledger accounts.
• Monitor inventory valuation, scrap, obsolete inventory, and cycle-count adjustments.
• Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Analyze gross margins, job profitability, purchase price variances, and manufacturing performance.
• Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve costing accuracy and manufacturing efficiency.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, product costing, and pricing decisions.
• Develop reports and dashboards to track costs, margins, and key performance indicators.
• Support inventory audits, internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.

MUST HAVES

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Strong understanding of standard costing, job costing, inventory accounting, overhead absorption, variance analysis, and month-end close.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
• Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems.
