About the role

Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Performs a wide spectrum of moderately difficult assignments, requiring technical evaluation, innovation, and judgement while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Works independently on mid-sized projects/technical assignments supporting operations
  • Maintains a strong understanding of industry and operational requirements
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of safety requirements, produces results and meets goals
  • Exhibits proficiency in Company processes, policies, procedures, and guidelines established by organization and governing agencies
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to individuals
  • Interprets internal/external customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies responses
  • Collaborates with teams to ensure compliance, build improvement plans and meet training needs
  • Champions processes, procedures and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Coordination of third party contractors
  • Developing and completing equipment condition-based maintenance programs
  • Repairing and improving operational reliability of electrical infrastructure and voltage systems
  • Supporting electrical equipment outage and maintenance
  • Maintaining electrical drawings
  • Performing electrical reviews of management of change plans and work plans
  • Coordinating and reviewing arc flash studies and implementing improvements

Interview Process

  • One final interview (60 minutes)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for field operations.
  • Troubleshoot medium- and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Support inspections, issue resolution, and engineering guidance.
  • Work closely with Operations and the Maintenance Coordinator on inspections and follow-up activities.
  • Handle open-ended technical troubleshooting across a wide range of industrial electrical equipment.

Location & Travel

  • Must reside near Houston, TX.
  • Hybrid schedule:
  • 4 days/week in the office
  • Remote on Fridays
  • Up to 25% travel, primarily within Texas and Louisiana.
  • Travel workload varies by project.

Ideal Candidate Profile An Electrical Engineer with hands-on industrial power systems experience who is skilled in troubleshooting medium- and low-voltage equipment, understands NEC requirements, is comfortable working directly with field operations, and is flexible to travel throughout Texas and Louisiana as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Years of Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; A minimum four (4) years of multifaceted engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.
  • Comfortable working with diverse electrical equipment and solving complex technical problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Inspection experience.
  • Experience with:
  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Transformers
  • Medium- and low-voltage distribution systems
  • Industrial electrical equipment

Must-haves

Other Requirements

  • Exhibits excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and deems safety an utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills
  • Preferred: FE Certification
  • Preferred: Project Management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Preferred: Proficient in National Electric Code and industry standard methodologies

Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%
