Millwright

Summary

• Empire State Mines is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Millwright at its specialized zinc and graphite mills. Located within 2-hour drive of The Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario shoreline, the Adirondack Mountains and world class skiing at Lake Placid. Explore Canada with Montreal and Ottawa only 2-3 hours away.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of cone and jaw crushers, crusher screens, conveyor belts, rollers and drive units;
• Rebuild and maintain industrial slurry pumps;
• Welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting;
• Adhere to MSHA and Company safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment;
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on equipment;
• Work with the mill crew to support continued production;
• Normal hours M-F, but must be flexible in work hours as needed when unexpected troubleshooting and projects arise;
• Other reasonable duties as needed.

Must Have- Strong understanding of mechanical principles and industrial machinery.

• Experience using hand tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools.
• Welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Nice to Have- Familiarity with rod and ball milling.
• Industrial experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Additional Information- Location(s): Gouverneur, St. Lawrence County, New York
• Onsite / Hybrid / Remote: Onsite
• Shift or schedule requirements: Normal Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility required for unexpected troubleshooting and project work.
• Compensation range and bonus eligibility: $30–$35/hour base pay, depending on experience and skills. No bonus specified.
• Job grade, reporting context, or other screening-relevant logistics:- Maintain and repair crushers, conveyor systems, slurry pumps, and other mill equipment.
• Maintain maintenance and repair records.
• Follow MSHA and company safety regulations.
• Work closely with the mill crew to support production.

• Familiar with rod and ball milling a plus;
