About the role

Job Description

  • The Tool Room Machinist is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components.
  • This position supports production by ensuring tooling accuracy, quality, and minimal downtime.

  • UPDATE FROM HM: Training will occur on 1st shift (Approx. 3 Weeks)- Candidate must: o Understand CNC programming. o Edit/upload programs into equipment. o Read blueprints. o Work independently/self-manage on off shifts. Work involves: o Machine shop-style tooling production. o Frequent setup/teardown work. o Mostly lathe-based equipment.

  • Work Schedule:- 2nd Shift: 3pm-11:30pm

  • 3rd Shift: 11pm-7:30am

  • Estimated Hours per Week: 40-56

  • There is 1 opening on each shift.

  • Shift / Schedule: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) and 3rd Shift (11:00 PM–7:30 AM); one opening per shift. Training will occur on 1st shift for approximately three weeks prior to shift assignment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 3-7+ years experience in tool room or precision machining environment.
  • Experience with tight tolerance machining Set up CNC mills and/or lathes (prove out programs, set offsets, adjust tooling) Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Manufacture and repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and special tooling Hold tight tolerances (±.0005" or as required).
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Proficient in manual machining (critical in tool room environment)
  • Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishes.
  • Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment

Must-haves

Shift or schedule requirements

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Estimated 40–56 hours per week

Must Have

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a tool room or precision machining environment
  • Demonstrated blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills (3+ years)
  • Hands-on experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes, including proving out programs, setting offsets, and adjusting tooling (3+ years)
  • Proficiency in manual machining operations in a tool room context
  • Ability to edit and upload CNC programs into equipment independently
